The real problem
Satellite layers, GIS tools, scouting apps, credit models, ERPs — every piece already exists somewhere in the stack. None of them talk to each other in a way a working farm actually uses, and none of them survive the first week the tractor breaks and the agronomist is three districts away.
Adoption is the failure point. Not the technology. So we built the platform we needed to run our own farms, and then we kept the people who make it stick.
More agricultural data available than ever, while the planting decision and the credit decision are still made the way they were a decade ago.
Systems designed for an office get handed to someone who is in a field at 5am. Usage goes nominal within a month, and the data goes stale with it.
A plan is worthless if the fertiliser arrives seven days late or the off-take was never secured. Most platforms stop at the farm gate.
What makes us different
FarmSwitch Assist is the part nobody else offers. Where the software raises a flag, our agronomists and mentor farmers go out and deal with it — advising through planning, standing next to the execution, and in some cases running key operational tasks ourselves.
Crop programmes, cultivar selection, field layout and mechanisation strategy built against seven seasons of productivity history and your own soil and terrain profile — not a generic template. Our agronomists and mechanisation specialists sit in that planning, and so does the funder if there is one.
The input requirement falls straight out of the approved crop programme — quantity, timing and field allocation. We procure through vetted suppliers and schedule delivery against the plan, because a seven-day delay at the wrong moment costs more yield than any agronomic decision you will make that season.
Tasks are assigned, scheduled and tracked to completion, each one GPS-located, timestamped and photo-evidenced. Where capacity or capability is short, FarmSwitch Assist deploys agronomists and experienced mentor farmers into the field, and our mechanisation and drone-application services take on the operational work directly.
Radar confirms what was actually planted, where and when. Optical imagery tracks crop condition every five to seven days against the field's own multi-season norm and against neighbouring farms. When a field starts to slide, it is raised the same day — not at the monthly visit.
Off-take linkage, packhouse and cold-chain coordination, grading and quality control against buyer specification. We have been selling into South African retail and processing for a decade, and that relationship comes with the platform rather than being your problem at harvest.
The platform
Each capability makes the others worth more. The crop programme loaded in Operate is what Supply procures against. The alert raised in Monitor is what Assist responds to. The work booked through Services is verified back through Monitor. Take them in whatever order suits you — most people start with one.
01 — MONITOR
Satellite-verified planted hectares, crop-health tracking every five to seven days, peer and self benchmarking, and threshold alerts that fire the day a field starts to deviate. Delivered remotely — no field logistics required.
02 — OPERATE
Crop programmes, task scheduling, cost tracking line by line against budget, and an in-field scouting app with geo-tagged photo evidence. Deviation from plan is visible the moment a task is missed.
03 — ASSIST
Agronomists and mentor farmers deployed to the farm — diagnosing on site, agreeing a corrective plan, and tracking it back through the platform until the season is stabilised. Our answer to the adoption problem.
04 — SUPPLY
Procurement runs off the approved crop programme, orders go to vetted suppliers, and funders pay suppliers directly. The farmer receives the input, in the right quantity, at the right moment in the programme.
05 — SERVICES
Mechanisation, drone application, soil sampling, harvesting, transport, packhouse and storage — booked, tracked, paid and rated inside the platform, triggered automatically off the crop programme.

A 0.06 drop in NDVI over seven days. Invisible to a monthly site visit. Field SP2 E — a 9.4-hectare onion field inside a financed programme.
The platform generated a prioritised action plan the same day: apply the overdue Week 16 inputs, inspect the western boundary for irrigation coverage, deploy targeted scouting to the high-stress edge zones.
Our agronomy team was on it immediately and the final yield was protected. Without the alert they estimate a 20–30% yield loss on a field carrying roughly R3.38 million of crop value — so somewhere between R677,000 and R1.02 million, avoided by a signal no one would have seen in time.
That is the whole argument for pairing the satellite with people who can act on it.
